It was a dark time for monsterkind. A hero had journeyed to the Dark Lord's castle, and slain him. The various monster clans were thrown into chaos as adventurers came out of the woodwork, vying for fame and fortune. Being driven from their ancestral homes, the monsters became desperate, and started to fight amongst each other. The in-fighting and invasions were devastating, and it looked like the age of monsteres would come to an end. Our story takes place in these turbulent times. Where a ragtag band of monsters did what they could to survive. Maybe they would turn the tables on monsterkind's terrible fate. Or maybe they would just be experience for an up-and-coming adventurer. Only time would tell...

Alright! Here's an RP I decided to do! Huzzah! Yeah, this time, you play as monsters. I hope it will be interesting enough for ya'll, but we shall see. First off, the only stats there are are HP and MP. Almost everything, combat and otherwise, are contained in the skills you will be learning as you grow. You will gain experience from fighting and questing, and you will spend it on skills. You start with 20 HP and 10 MP, and each level will grant you 1 more HP and 1 more MP.

Monsters will have innate weaknesses and resistances, and I will also be supplying them with an appropriate racial skill. Usually passive. And as part of your character creation, you will be allowed to make another skill for your character. And each monster will start with Attack, which has an accuracy of 95%, a critical hit rate of 5%, and deals 2 Unarmed damage.

Next up, some important bits. Some monsters will be able to use armor and weapons. While this seems unfair, and may discourage players from selecting less human monsters, I am hoping I address the issue in a fair manner. Armor grants you additional HP, like in Final Fantasy Tactics. So, monsters who cannot use armor will instead get 2 HP at level ups instead of 1.

Weapons, however, give additional attack options. Like, for example, a sword would give a weapon attack that had 95% accuracy, 5% critical rate, and dealt 4 damage. It would be kind of like the Fire Emblem weapons. To offset this advantage though, the weapons have a durability, like in FE. Also, monsters that cannot use weapons will have more attack options learnable.

The combat will be grid-based, so you will have to keep in mind how to best deal with situations. Most characters will have a move range of 3. The elements of the world are Fire, Ice, Wind, Earth, Water, Thunder, Light, Dark, Wood, and Metal. Metal is an element that would be more applied to items than creatures. There are exceptions, of course.

Poisons are divided into three separate types of poison. First, plant-based poison is simply called Poison. Animal-based poison is called Venom. And finally, chemical-based poison is called Acid. They are, for the moster part, the same thing, but they can stack with each other, and are cured by different healing items. Being poisoned, envenomed, and coveredd in acid is a bad day.

Finally, I will leave you to make your characters. Depending on reception, I may allow two characters per player. But for now, just concentrate on one. All you need for your character is their background information, and what skill you wish to create for them. If you are unsure if your more human monster race is monster or human, drop me a line and we will discuss it.

Oh, yes, some plot points to consider. First, monster economy is barter-based. They have little-to-no use for gold. It could be useful later, but not in monster society. Second, Youkai, monsters of japanese origin, are from the Mystic East, and are rare in the area the RP will be taking place. Now, I'm not banning them, but keep in mind that they are rare, and will be reacted to accordingly. Equipment from the Mystic East is equally rare.

That should be it! If you have any questions or need clarification, drop me an IM and I will do my best to walk you through anything you do not understand.

EDIT: Right! I forgot to mention, Undead are not monsters. They are... something else. Your character must be born a monster.

Name: Gelilah

Appearance:

Race: Slime

Background:

Gelilah was always a particularly large slime, often chastised by her own species for her "obesity". The constant mockery that she had to endure from her fellow slimes left her seeking reprieve by way of solitude, but she still pined for friendship all the same.

Years ago, she had wandered off on her own looking for friends, when she came across a human town. From the outskirts, she could see all sorts of people happily gathered around a beatiful fountain, which caught her attention with its sparkling, billowing water. She was so awe-stricken by the fountain, that she decided to assume the form of the stone maiden at its center, to the best of her abilities. Maybe if she were like that fountain, people would want to be around her as well?

While the slimes still just viewed her as a corpulent blob, many other monster races seemed to suddenly take a disturbing fixation with her, which was an incredibly sudden shock for Gelilah, who in turn became even more shy and withdrawn, not knowing how to respond to such attention.

Even amidst the current chaos of the monster kingdom, Gelilah remains positive and tries her best to avoid conflict.
But one can only avoid such a thing for so long...

Additional Info:

She once found a human book lost in the woods, and was so excited at the thought of possibly being able to learn some of
the language, but her slimy form ruined the book before she could even give it an effort. She moped for two days.

She has assumed the feminine shape for so long, that she involuntarily returns to it without effort. Let's call it jelly memory.

Skill:

JELLY BEANS

10% of Gelilah's HP is deducted, and a new Jelly Token unit is summoned to an adjacent tile, with the deducted HP.

Name: Eathan
Race: Treant

Appearance: He has a large, roughly humanoid shape, with a thick trunk being his abdomen. A collection of branches form his head and face, with his leaves appearing as his hair. (He goes "bald" in the winter, the horror.) His trunk splits into two "legs", with his roots forming his feet, and two thick, leafless branches form his arms.

Background: Eathan had a simple life. Chilling out in the sun, photosynthesizing, enjoying the breaze, and swatting little woodland critters from nesting in him. He could not remember when he gained sentience, but it mattered not. He was content with his forest home. That is, until the humans started expanding. Armed with heavy axes, they felled many a tree, turning Eathan's forest into a hollow husk. Fearing for his life, Eathan fled in the night, while the humans slumbered.

His travels brought him to many lands, which he had to vacate due to the human's growing arogance and confidence, now that the Dark Lord was no more. He grew increasingly distressed at the state of things, and sought to make a home for what wayward monsters he could. Eventually gathering a group of assorted misfits, Eathan had established a rough monster "village", a sort of safe haven for monsters. He knew this precious peace wouldn't last... He had to think of a way to protect his charges.

Special Info: Eathan's name is actually Earthen, but some younger monsters mispronounced his name. Eathan stuck. Eathan doesn't really care however, so all's good.

Ability: Sheltering Canopy - Eathan can take damage in the place of adjacent allies who have less HP than him. This ability will not activate if the attack is one of Eathan's weaknesses.

Argh... okay. I'm having second thoughts about the story being so dreary and serious. So, I will ask you all, which would you prefer? Serious story, or something light-hearted and fun?

UPDATE: Okay~ So I will be reworking the story. IT will be more light-hearted, but I suppose I will leave room for things to get more serious sometimes. You can ignore the first paragraph of the sign-ups and most of Eathan's background.
